The 2vs2 team battle is an original expansion mode by HexaColony.

1.Basic Setup

Team Composition

  • Players: 4 required
  • Teams: Team A (A1/A2) and Team B (B1/B2)
  • Seating: A1 → B1 → A2 → B2 (alternating)
  • Each player has equal rights

Turn Order

  • Turn order: A1 → B1 → A2 → B2 → (repeat)
  • Turns progress on an individual basis

Win Condition

  • Target score: Default 12 points (configurable 10-15)
  • Team score: Combined score of both team members
  • Game ends the moment a team's score reaches the target
  • If tied: The team with the higher individual top scorer wins

2.Team Trade

Basic Rules

  • Timing: During your turn, in the main phase
  • Frequency: Once per turn with teammate (unlimited with opponents)
  • Cost: Completely free
  • Format: Two-way exchange only (one-way gifts are prohibited)

Resource Transfer Rules

  • Amount: 1 resource each way (1:1 exchange only)
  • Exchange rate: Fixed at 1:1 (one resource for one resource)
  • Same-type trade prohibited: Cannot exchange the same resource type (e.g., wheat for wheat)

Trade Requirements

  • Both players must offer exactly 1 resource each
  • Offered resources cannot exceed your hand

Information Visibility

  • Teammate: Resources and development cards (types and quantities) are always visible
  • Opponents: Only notified that a team trade occurred. Details are completely secret

Since it's a 1:1 exchange, your hand size doesn't change. Hand limit discards (8+ cards) only apply on a roll of 7.

3.Resource & Card Sharing Rules

Development Cards

  • Ownership: Individual, non-transferable
  • Types and quantities are visible to teammate (hidden from opponents)

Victory Point Cards

  • Ownership: Individual, but added to team total score
  • Visible to teammate, but hidden from opponents

Special Bonuses

Longest Road & Largest Army: Added to team score as the individual's victory points

Hand Limit

  • Applied per individual (not team total)
  • Only triggered on a roll of 7

4.Robber & Knight Cards

Stealing from Teammates

  • Principle: You can steal resources from teammates
  • Stealing from a teammate with very few resources (2 or fewer) is not recommended

Knight Card Usage

  • Recommended: Avoid targeting tiles rich in your teammate's resources
  • Focus attacks on the opposing team's leading player

5.Disconnection & Leaving

During a Game

  • If disconnected, automatic actions are performed by the timer (reconnection is possible)
  • If a player manually leaves, AI takes over their actions
  • If all human players leave, the game ends

6.FAQ (Team Battle)

What is the win condition for team battles?

Your team wins when the combined victory points of both team members reach the target score (default 12 points). Unlike individual games, the total team score is used for the win condition.

What is Team Trade?

Team Trade is a special system that lets you do a 1:1 resource exchange with your teammate once per turn for free. Each player offers exactly 1 resource (same-type exchanges are not allowed). The trade details are kept secret from the opposing team.

Can I see my teammate's hand?

Yes, your teammate's resource types and quantities, as well as development card types and quantities, are always visible. Opponents' hands remain hidden as usual.

Can I steal from my teammate with the robber?

Yes, you can steal from your teammate by the rules. However, it's recommended to prioritize targeting the opposing team for better team strategy.

Are Longest Road and Largest Army shared between teammates?

No, Longest Road and Largest Army are evaluated individually. When earned, those victory points count as the individual's score and are added to the team total.

What happens if my teammate disconnects or leaves?

If disconnected, automatic actions are performed by the timer, and they can rejoin if they reconnect. If they manually leave, AI takes over their actions and the game continues.
